2017 is turning out to be a great year that is only going to get better for cord cutting.
There are several big news stories that have become lost in the mix with the flood of other stories. So let’s take a minute and look at all the cord cutting stories we should keep an eye on.
#1 New Apple TV
It has been reported by several news groups that Apple will be releasing a 4K Apple TV late this year. Apple TV is currently the only major streaming player that does not offer a 4K option, but that soon will be fixed.
According to reports, the new Apple TV player will be released in late 2017.
#2 New Fire TV Box
The Fire TV Box is now almost 2 years old, and Amazon seems to like to refresh its players every 2 years. According to multiple sources, a new 4K HDR Fire TV box will be released at some point in 2017.
#3 Hulu Offline Viewing
Back in January the CEO of Hulu announced that it is working on offline viewing. According to the reports, you will be able to download shows and movies on your Hulu app to watch offline.
Recently Netflix added offline viewing something Amazon has had for some time.
#4 DIRECTV NOW DVR
Back at launch DIRECTV NOW announced that it is working on a DVR. It has been hinted at several times that the DVR will launch in 2017.
#5 Major Update to Android TV
Leaks and an event at Google’s I/O event point to a major update to Android TV coming in 2017. This could come as soon as June 2017.
