directv_logo_4195Today it was announced that DirecTV Now will offer eight Starz and Starz Encore channels when DirecTV Now the new live TV streaming service that launches later this month.

DirecTV Now, will start at $35 a month, has not announced a release date or a full lineup of channels yet. Starz said it will be adding more channels to the service at a later date, including the full Starz and Starz Encore VOD catalogs, which include current and past seasons of Starz originals. This is all apart of a multi-year deal between Starz and AT&T’s DirecTV Now service.

A few weeks ago AT&T mistakenly made the DirecTV Now website live for almost a day. During that time we learned that HBO and Cinemax will also be apart of the new streaming service. Yet we still do not have a full channel list but here is what we know from a recent leak.

Here is what we learned:

  • Subscribers who are willing to commit to at least three months of paid service will be able to get a free Apple TV as part of a device promotion, similar to the Sling TV device deal.
  • Some of the channels include Audience Network, Food Network, MTV, TBS, AXS TV, Fox, MTV 2, TCM, BET, FYI, MundoFox, TNT, Bravo, Galavision, NBC, Travel Channel, Cartoon Network, Golf, NBC Sports Network, TruTV, CBS, Hallmark, Nickelodeon, TV Land.
  • Many, but not all networks will support a 72-hour catch-up window, allowing you to re-watch shows, similar to how Sling handles their on-demand content.
  • Will have access to WatchESPN
  • Over 14,000 VOD tittles. (No mention if these are free or paid titles.)
  • DirecTV Now will give consumers a 7-day free trial
