DIRECTV NOW Will Have Local NBC Channels and NBCUniversal Channels

The-Blacklist-2014Today AT&T announced that their new DIRECTV NOW streaming service will have the NBCUniversal portfolio of networks. AT&T expects to launch DIRECTV NOW in the fourth quarter of this year. This is the first time local channels have been confirmed for the new DIRECTV NOW streaming service.

DIRECTV NOW is AT&T’s new Sling TV competitor that will offer live TV streamed to your media player. With the addition of NBCUniversal the new DIRECTV NOW service now has 100+ channels including the Disney family of channels, HBO, and Discovery Networks.

“AT&T  is an important distributor and we are pleased they recognize the value of NBCUniversal’s  leading portfolio of networks and will continue offering our unmatched lineup of entertainment, sports, news and Hispanic content,” stated Matt Bond, Chairman NBCUniversal Content Distribution.  “We are committed to growing our audiences, and we welcome the opportunity to offer our networks on DIRECTV NOW.”

“We’re pleased to extend our relationship with NBCU with this milestone agreement, which delivers their content across all of our platforms and products,” said Dan York, chief content officer for AT&T. “The NBCU family of networks will be available to AT&T customers for years to come and will also enhance our DIRECTV NOW streaming services and provide more great 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) sports content.”
