Fire TV 36Love your Fire TV? Love the ability to voice search, ask questions, and more? Now Amazon has even more options for Alexa on the Fire TV.

This week Amazon announced that the Fire TV will now not only allow users to search for a movie but also to ask Alexa to play the movie on their Fire TV. For now this only works on Amazon Video and the Amazon Video add-ons but no longer will you have to first search and then hit play on the movie you want.

Alexa on the Fire TV will also now allow you to search for movie show times at local theaters, read Kindle ebooks, and search for local businesses.

This is just one more step as Amazon continues to fight for dominance in the living room. With Google, Roku, and Apple all putting extra effort into finding a killer feature to help their device stand out, Amazon seems focused on new voice capabilities.

Although we are still far from being able to do everything just by asking, the Fire TV is slowly moving in that direction driven by the power of Alexa. Amazon may someday be the device to be 100% voice controlled; however, Apple seems equally aggressive with their new Siri on the Apple TV.
