Fire TV Smart TV vs Fire TV Box – User Experience Test

Recently Amazon rolled out its first line of smart TVs that are powered by a Fire TV. Now you no longer need a box to get access to all the great content you will find on the Fire TV.

I have recently been getting a lot of questions about how the Fire TV edition smart TVs line up against the Fire TV box, so I decided to put them head to head so you can get a look at what device fits your needs.

Remember: These tests are meant to be an end-user’s experience test. We can talk about specs all day long, but what we want to look at here is how the TV and the box will work when you take them home. So to do this we used the 2nd generation Fire TV box fully updated against the 43″ Fire TV edition smart TV fully updated.

Here is a video of them going head to head:

Take Aways

The Fire TV box is slightly faster but not crazy so. You will notice that the TV is far faster than the Fire Stick but just slightly slower than the Fire TV box.

My suggestion is to get the device you want. Both are great and if you have a TV you already love I don’t see a reason to upgrade to the Fire TV edition smart TV. If you are in the market for a new TV, the Fire TV edition smart TVs are a nice all in one.
