The Hallmark Channel Comes to Roku Players

Last week Hallmark finally released a Roku channel that gives access to a wide range of Hallmark movies and shows.

You will need a provider login, and Sling TV is one of the supported services. If you have the Hallmark Channel as part of your Sling TV subscription you can access the content. (Update: It seems that Sling TV is no longer listed as a authorized service.)

Hallmark describes the Roku channel in the following:

Watch your favorite Hallmark Channel original shows and movies wherever and whenever you want with the Hallmark Channel Everywhere app available for Roku! Just launch the app and log in with your cable or satellite provider account info. This will give you access to everything the Hallmark Channel Everywhere app currently has to offer including episodes of recent original series and great original movies. We’re adding more and more content all the time, so it’s only going to get better.

You can add the Hallmark Channel to your Roku here: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/122834/hallmark-channel

Although this may not be the à la carte option many had hoped for it does open up a wide range of on-demand content for cord cutters who subscribe to a service that offers the Hallmark Channel. Hopefully someday an true à la carte option will become available.

If I have SLING with Hallmark on my ROKU, why do I need a separate Hallmark channel???????

Because Sling won’t give you On Demand and other app exclusives.

Actually I just checked it out and everything that is available to watch on the Hallmark everywhere app and website is what is available on demand on SlingTV.

I’m surprised they’d put the same content On Demand as in their app. Other TV Network apps only provide like a maximum of 3- 5 episodes on Demand and make dozens of episodes and other exclusives available on their app.

I was surprised as well, I was expecting much more from the app. I was even more surprised to see that DTVN had about 90% of what was available on the app in their On Demand selection. I guess they are working on bolstering their On Demand.

It’s been about 3 months now. If any real improvements to their On Demand content, it will be probably a year from now.

This is as crappy as the Fire TV app. It only shows some of their older movies and never any of the good ones like the endless holiday movies. At least on Sling you can watch them live, but yeah their on demand is mediocre at best and you really need Sling, cable or Directv Now to at least be able to see the good movies in real time. Forget getting any of them on demand or on the app. Wish they would just release a paid standalone app.
