Hoopla Digital is Now Available on Roku Players

A few weeks ago we learned that hoopla digital was added to the Apple TV, Android TV, and the Fire TV. Today they launched an app on Roku Players and Roku TVs.

hoopla digital told Cord Cutters News that this is an early “sneak peek” version of their Roku Channel. With this Roku Channel, you will be able to view all movies and TV shows you have already borrowed through the hoopla digital app. At this time you can not browse the hoopla catalog but hoopla digital says more features will be added to the hoopla Roku Channel in the future.

So what is Hoopla? Hoopla Digital teams up with local libraries to offer free streaming for members of more than 1,600 public library systems across North America. Public libraries are a great resource for cord cutters—not only for free DVD rentals but now also for streaming.

hoopla has been busy adding new content. Recently it struck a deal with Viacom and Paramount to add hundreds of popular TV shows from networks such as Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Comedy Central, MTV, Spike, VH1, TV Land, and CMT.

So how do you get access to hoopla? You need a library membership. If you want to stream the great library of content, contact your local library and find out if they offer Hoopla. Chances are they do have a free streaming service for members.

If you are a cord cutter make sure to take advantage of your local library. You are paying for it with your taxes so why not take advantage of the services?

You can add Hoopla Digital to your Roku HERE.
