Today Nvidia announced a new update to the Nvidia Shield. This update will include many new features, bug fixes, and support for YouTube TV. This will all be included in the new Nvidia Shield 6.1 update rolling out starting today.
With this update, you will find YouTube TV added to your Nvidia Shield similar to how Nvidia added Amazon Video earlier this year. You won’t have to do anything the YouTube TV app will just show up on your Nvidia Shield with this 6.1 update.
Here are some of the features included with this update:
- TV on/off over IR for SHIELD remote
- Improved experience setting up Logitech Harmony Hub over Bluetooth
- WPA2 WiFi Security Update
- YouTube TV App
- Voice controls for more apps including Hulu, Uber, Target, and more
- SmartThings Link allowing control of your smart home with your Nvidia Shield.
- Other bug fixes and improvements
YouTube TV is Google’s answer to live TV services like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, Hulu, and more. YouTube TV is only available in select markets but Google has slowly been rolling it out to new markets. You can find out if YouTube TV is available in your area HERE.
