NewsON-regions-1024x576NewsON the service that streams live local news today announced its partnership with Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc., a recognized leader in innovation for the television industry. This includes both an investment in NewsON and the addition of pioneering station WRAL in North Carolina’s Research Triangle.

Capitol Broadcasting augments existing coverage from two founding member stations in the Research Triangle with the addition of WRAL, resulting in especially strong coverage of the region. It also increases NewsON’s nationwide local news coverage to 167 stations in 107 markets covering 83% of the U.S. population, including 48 of the top 50 markets.

“This is a great partnership for us as a business and as a service to our communities,” said James F. Goodmon, Jr., Vice President and General Manager of the Capitol Broadcasting New Media Group. “We have long been dedicated to serving our customers on the platforms that matter, and NewsON fills a void in the marketplace. It will attract new viewers to our content, and allow us to generate new revenue on digital platforms, while also complementing our existing businesses.”

“We’re excited to welcome Capitol Broadcasting to the NewsON family,” said Louis Gump, CEO of NewsON. “Partnering with such an innovative, forward-looking television broadcaster is another milestone for our company and the people we are helping to connect with their communities. We have many of the most progressive and dedicated station groups active in NewsON already. The arrival of Capitol is another major step forward for NewsON towards our goal of becoming the essential local news source for a national audience.”
