The Nvidia Shield 6.2 Update is Rolling Out With Several New Features


Today Nvidia started to roll out a major new update to their Nvidia Shield. The 6.2 update includes several firmware fixes and security updates on top of these new features:

  • Amazon Music
  • Enjoy HDR on VUDU
  • Play Metal Gear Solid 3 HD (Android), FIFA18 (Gamestream) and Destiny 2 (Gamestream)
  • Use voice for PlexVUDUEcobee thermostats and LG SmartThinQ appliances with Google Assistant support
  • Watch movies on demand with Movies Anywhere and popular shows and sports from India with Hotstar

There are also some great early Black Friday deals. This week Nvidia kicked off their Black Friday deals with the Nvidia Shield starting at $149 for the remote only version or $169.99 for the version with the remote and game controller bundle.

    I would classify this as a MINOR update not MAJOR update.
    When Android 8 rolls out to the Shield TV. That will be a Major Update.

    Apparently, it’s not an Amazon Music app on the Shield TV, it’s that the phone app can now cast to Shield.
