In the past Roku had a basic voice search option. Now with the Roku OS 8.0 update, your Roku has a powerful voice search option to help it stand up against the Fire TV and the Apple TV.
Voice Controls
You can now ask your Roku to switch inputs, load a streaming channel, and more from your Roku app or your voice-enabled remote voice controls on your Roku TV, which are better than ever.
Not only can you launch apps with your voice, but you also have a more natural voice search. Want comedies with Will Ferrell? Just ask “show me comedies with Will Ferrell.” Not only will it look for Will Ferrell, but it will also show just comedies he is in.

These features are still new, but in our testing we have found the new voice search to be a huge step up compared to the old voice search.
