10 FREE Fire TV Apps for TV, Movies, News, Music & Weather

Amazon has many free apps, giving Fire TV users plenty of options for free TV, movies, news, music, weather, and more. Today, we’re sharing a few of our favorites, in no particular order. And, with Prime Day just around the corner, Fire TV devices will be on sale for anyone who wants to give these free apps a try.

IMDb TV

Amazon’s ad-supported streaming service has a growing collection of movies and TV all for free on IMDb, Fire TV devices, and in the Prime Video app. The streaming service adds new titles every month and has been adding some original content to the lineup including the series Timewasters about a jazz band that gets transported back in time to 1920s London.

Popcorn Flix

Stream over 1500 titles for free with Popcornflix. This channel has been popping up on free streaming services, but you can download the standalone app as well to get your fix of classic TV episodes and hard to find films.

TuneIn Radio

Listen to over 100,000 radio stations, get the latest breaking news, and check out new podcasts with the free version of the TuneIn Radio app. Use the app to get your daily news and weather, listen to exclusive 24/7 stations, and to find and follow podcasts, sports teams, and favorite music artists.

Haystack News

Watch local, national, and global news with this free app. Haystack News brings viewers news from partners including ABC News, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, CBSN, Cheddar, CNET, Euronews, GameSpot, Newsy and Yahoo Finance. Look for dedicated channels providing news coverage of major current events, politics, and sports events

NewsON

Watch live, local TV newscasts for FREE from 275+ trusted local news stations across the U.S with the NewsON app. Use the app to stream live local news, previous newscasts (up to 48 hours), and local news clips.

Vudu

Vudu was just made available on Fire TV devices in March. Fire TV users can now use the app to rent or buy titles from a catalog of over 150,000 movies and TV shows, but Vudu also has a free section with hundreds of titles streaming for free with ads.

Amazon Music

If you’re a Prime member, you can listen to Amazon Music for free. You’ll get access to over 2 million songs and thousands of playlists and stations. You can also upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited with 3 months free right now to have access to 60 million songs.

WeatherNation

A free alternative to The Weather Channel, WeatherNation offers customizable interactive radar and weather maps let you decide what you want to see and 24/7 coverage of current weather events.

Tubi

One of many free streaming services available for Fire TV users, Tubi is a standout because of its library of over 20,000 titles with content from partners including Lionsgate, MGM, Paramount, and more. Now that Fox has acquired Tubi, you’ll also find loads of Fox programming for free, including full seasons of shows like LEGO Masters and The Masked Singer.

iHeart Radio

If you’re looking for a traditional radio experience on your streaming device, iHeart Radio has you covered. With the app, you can stream thousands of radio stations and create your own playlists based on your favorite artists and genres. iHeart Radio has a catalog of millions of songs, so you’ll always find something new based on what you already know and love.
