10 Movies to Keep You in the Summer Spirit

Summer always seems to fly by but this year especially. Sometimes we need a little summertime escape from the short days and cool nights of fall so we have put together a list of 10 movies to keep you in the summer spirit. 

Wine Country – Netflix

Amy Poehler stars in and directs this hilarious but heartfelt comedy. When 6 friends decide to go to Napa to relax and reconnect, they find that a little bit of wine leads to a lot of friendship revelations that make them question their future. This movie is the perfect mix of real world problems and fun. 

The Parent Trap – Disney+

When identical twins, who were separated at birth, are sent to the same summer camp trouble ensues when they decide to reconnect their estranged parents. With Lindsay Lohan playing both sisters, this movie is sure to take you back to the mischief and long days of summer camp.

Baywatch – Hulu

New recruit Matt, played by Zac Efron, joins Mitch and the other devoted lifeguards in Florida and quickly learns there’s more to being a lifeguard than meets the eye. While Matt spends his time searching for redemption, Mitch and the other lifeguards help to solve a local murder mystery. It doesn’t hurt that all of this takes place on beautiful white sand beaches.  

The Hustle – Amazon Prime

The French Riviera, two con women, and perfectly timed humor makes for a hilarious summer film. When Josphine and Penny decide to team up to create what they believe is the perfect con they quickly realize they may have bitten off more than they could chew. Starring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson this movie will have you laughing from start to finish. 

Forgetting Sarah Marshall – Hulu

Peter, Jason Segal, is devastated when his girlfriend of 5 years, Sarah played by Kristen Bell, breaks up with him. In an effort to heal from the breakup he heads to Hawaii for some rest and relaxation only to find Sarah checking into the same hotel with her new boyfriend. With the help of his new friends Peter tries to move on. 

Someone Great – Netflix

Set in New York City this movie will have you feeling a summer heartbreak all over again. When Jenny breaks up with her boyfriend of 9 years she turns to her friends for one last NYC adventure before she moves across the country.  This movie is a sweet reminder that friends can help you get through anything. 

Overboard (2018) – Amazon Prime

Based on the 1987 movie of the same name this remake has a twist when the genders are swapped. When Leonardo falls off his yacht and gets amnesia Kate, a single mom, jumps on the opportunity to change her life. With a few bumps along the way Leonardo works to learn the value of family, friendships and hard work. 

Grease – Netflix

This summer love story classic is a must see for every family. Set in the 1950’s Grease explores the relationship between two high school students who have a brief summer romance but quickly learn they come from very different lives. 

Real Women Have Curves – HBO Max

Sometimes summer means hard work, life lessons, and family. America Ferrera stars as Ana a first-generation Mexican American who learns that sometimes street smarts can be just as beneficial as book smarts. In this coming of age film set in the summer in east Los Angeles, Ana struggles to reconcile her desire for higher education and her desire to help support her family. 

The Rookie – Disney+ 

Dennis Quaid plays a high school baseball coach who once dreamt of playing major league baseball. After an injury ruins his chances of ever playing for the big league, he focuses on his high school students. But with the help of his students can he give his dream one more shot?
