Sling TV was first announced at CES and so were a long list of cord cutting devices and services.

So, what should you expect from CES 2020? Here are 5 cord cutting trends we are watching for.

Smart TVs

CES has always been a showcase for TVs. Now smart TV have become one of the biggest draws to the show. Look for news about new TVs targeting cord cutters. We expect more apps related to cord cutting to hit smart TVs and even new ATSC 3.0 OTA TV tuners to be announced at CES.

Roku TVs typically have a big presence at CES. Look for that to once again be true at CES 2020.

ATSC 3.0 Next Gen OTA TV

The team behind the new OTA TV standard ATSC 3.0 Next Gen OTA TV has been hinting at big news coming to CES. For the first time, ATSC 3.0 will have a booth a CES to showcase what the new standard can do including 4K.

Look for new tuners and TVs with built-in ATSC 3.0 to be announced at CES. Look for ATSC 3.0 TVs to hit the market by the end of 2020 with the announcement about them happening at CES.

Streaming Service News

In recent years some streaming services like Sling TV have stopped going to CES while others like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have made announcements there. Keep an eye out for some big streaming service news.

In years past we have even learned about new live TV streaming services and more hitting the market at CES, so its possible some dark horse service will pop up this year.

Keep an eye out for Disney+ to maybe even make an appearance at the show.

TV on the Go

Look for TV on the go to be a big part of CES. Increasingly the idea of how can we make TV more mobile to smartphones and other devices has been popular. Look for that once again to be a hot topic at CES.

Cord Cutting in Cars

Recently we have seen cars become a central focus of streaming TV. Tesla brought streaming apps to its cars. Look for other car manufacturers to push Internet services and even streaming services in their new vehicles at CES.

As Americans travel more car manufacturers have been looking for ways to make their cars the perfect long-haul transportation device. Internet and other ways to make the trip more enjoyable have become more popular and likely will continue for CES 2020.
