5 Free Trials Every Cord Cutter Should Try

Male hand holding TV remote control. If the weather where you live is like it is down in Texas (cold and wet), maybe this weekend is the perfect time to stay home and try a new streaming service. This is the best part of being a cord cutter: if you want to try something new you can without a 2-year contract. What makes cord cutting even better is the ability to try most of them for FREE.

Unlike with cable TV, cord cutting gives you the opportunity to test a service before you pay for it.

So, the following are five free trials I think every cord cutter should try. (Note: Some of these services have affiliate deals with Cord Cutters News. Affiliate links cost you nothing but help Cord Cutters News keep going in the day and age of ad blockers.)

#1 Hulu

Hulu has come a long way since it launched with a ton of new content and a growing catalog of movies and TV shows. Not only do you get a huge catalog of shows the next day, but you can also subscribe to Hulu’s new live TV streaming service.

Put it all together and I highly recommend trying Hulu out, or if it has been sometimes maybe giving Hulu another look.

#2 Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is one other service that has come a long way in the last year via a ton of new content and a growing list of Amazon Originals. Just remember that being a Prime member does not get you everything on Amazon Prime Video; however, it offers a huge library of movies and TV shows to stream and access to Prime-only sales.

You can also get access to free books, music, 2-day shipping, and more. So why not give Amazon Prime a try?

#3 Amazon Channels

Amazon Channels is a great service that Amazon Prime subscribers can use. With Amazon Channels, you can manage all your subscriptions in one place. There you can subscribe to HBO, STARZ, Showtime, History Vault, CuriosityStream, and more.

No longer do you need multiple passwords or to enter your billing information to test out a service. With Amazon Channels, you can easily try numerous streaming services all from inside your Amazon app.

I love trying different Amazon Channels through the free trials.

#4 Live TV Streaming Services

This is not one service but several: Sling TV, PhiloHulu, YouTube TV, PlayStation VueDIRECTV NOW, and fuboTV. They all offer a free trial and, heck, why not?

While I know many cord cutters may be happy with on demand, it is nice to have a service such as Sling TV or Hulu when you want to go live.

#5 CuriosityStream

If you love great documentaries and educational shows, check out CuriosityStream. Created by the founder of the Discovery Channel, you will find some of the best documentaries online on CuriosityStream.
