5 Tips to Help You Get the Most from PlayStation Vue

PlayStation Vue has several great features that make using the service so much better. Sadly after talking with some PlayStation Vue subscribers recently, I was surprised by how few of them take advantage of everything PlayStation Vue has to offer. If you are a long-time PlayStation Vue subscriber, you may already know these options. Yet with the rapid growth of cord cutting we hope this post helps new subscribers learn how to get the most out of PlayStation Vue.

Here are my top 5 tips to help you get the most from PlayStation Vue:

Quick Channel Guide

Ever wish you could quickly jump to the guide without fully going back to the main menu? PlayStation Vue has a built-in option that lets you bring up a small guide that will give you access to your TV guide and DVR list. On the Fire TV, for example, if you hold the option key (the one with the three lines) it will bring up this menu.

(This option is not available on all devices and works differently depending on your device.)

Start from the Beginning

PlayStation Vue lets you start a DVRed recording from the beginning even if it is currently being recorded. This is a great option if you got home 15 minutes after your favorite show started. The bad news is this option is only available on select devices. In late 2017, PS Vue added restart from the beginning to the Fire TV. Hopefully, they continue to roll out this option to more devices.

You can learn more about this feature from this forum post.

How to Set Up a DVR Recording

If you are a long-time PlayStation Vue subscriber, you likely know how the DVR works. If you are new and wondering how to set up a recording, don’t worry. That is one of our most commonly asked questions.

With PlayStation Vue you don’t set up a recording. You add a show, movie, or event to your Favorites. There, it will go and automatically record every episode that pops up and save it for 28 days. Unfortunately, there is no way to just record one show or one football game. The good news is your DVR has unlimited space and saves everything for 28 days.

Deleting DVRed Programs

One of the most common questions I get is how to delete a DVRed show, movie, or game from your PS Vue DVR. You can’t delete just one show or movie from your DVR. The good news is you have unlimited storage so don’t worry about running out.

The only way to get rid of something is to remove the whole show from your favorites but that removes everything recorded from that show from your DVR.

Profiles

If you are like me multiple people will be using the same streaming service. This means you find favorited networks or DVRed shows you wish you didn’t have to skip past. The good news is with PlayStation Vue you can create profiles letting each user have their own list of favorite channels and DVR.

Sadly, PlayStation Vue profiles only work on Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, or a PS4™ or PS3™ console.

Correction: Well Sony does not list Apple TV and Roku on their help page both now support profiles. You can access them there but need to create the profile on PlayStationVue.com.
