CBS All Access announced the release date for its new animated Star Trek series will be August 6. Lower Decks is a 10-episode animated adult comedy from Rick and Morty’s writer, Mike McMahan, and will have new episodes every Thursday.

The series’ storyline follows the crew from the lower decks of the USS Cerritos in a pre-Captain Picard setting. CBS hasn’t revealed much more than that about the series, but recently posted some images

CBS All Access has a number of projects from the franchise in the works, including season 3 of Star Trek: Discovery which is expected to hit the streaming service sometime this year. If not concurrent with this new animated series (which seems pretty unlikely), then after Lower Decks wraps up on October 8.

Lower Decks is the first animated Star Trek series since the first original one in 1973.
