Depressed mature man holding paper and looking at it while sitting on the couch at homeFor some time now services have been popping up using the Omniverse One World Television system to create live TV streaming services. These are not small companies as they even include Silicondust; the parent company behind the HDHomeRun popular DVR. Omniverse has been very secretive but promised that they do have rights for this content. Now, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) has filed a lawsuit saying they do not have the rights to this content. ACE whose members include some of the biggest names in TV and many others with the goal of protecting their works.

What is Omniverse One World Television? According to Bloomberg, Omniverse One World Television was formed in 2012 and offers live TV, podcasts, and on-demand content. From what we can see they have a premade bundle that companies can buy to offer their own streaming service. This is also what HDHomeRun and others did to offer their own streaming service.

Omniverse’s illegal services, and the downstream ‘Powered by Omniverse’ entities, undermine the legitimate market for legal and licensed services, a harm that has grown as Omniverse has expanded.  This action is part of a long-term effort to protect the thriving legal marketplace for creative content, which now offers 140 legal online services for film and TV content in the United States, and more than 460 around the world.”ACE said in a press release Cord Cutters News received.

This comes a few months after Hallmark Channel and Discovery content were removed from Omniverse content. In a statement sent to Cord Cutters News, SiliconDush USA, one of the Omniverse resellers said. “With regard to the HDHomeRun Premium TV line up, there is an upstream contract dispute relating to Hallmark, Discovery Channel, HGTV, TLC, Food Network, Animal Planet, Travel Channel & OWN.”

Recently, a flood of new live TV streaming services have popped up using the Omniverse system like SkyStream TV, HDHomeRun Premium TV, VivaLive TVTikiLive TVNKT.TV, and Flixon TV. These services offer a growing lineup of channels, including Disney and FOX with pricing at about $35 a month. Some of these services like TikiLive TV have been around for years.

For now, we will have to wait and see what happens as Omniverse and ACE fight it out.
