Yesterday at the Pay TV Show in Denver, Cord Cutters News was able to interview Rich Au the director of Amazon Channels and one of the leads on Amazon’s sports deals. We had the opportunity to chat about some of the questions we hear from our readers.
One of the main things we talked about was Amazon’s new NFL deal for the 2018–2019 season. With this deal, Amazon not only has rights to stream Thursday Night NFL Football for free for all Twitch members but also there is no paywall.
Au went on to say Amazon plans to build an interactive chat environment around the Twitch stream similar to what Twitch now offers for game streams.
You will need an Amazon or Twitch account to log in but both are free to set up. If you are a Prime member you will still be able to watch Thursday Night NFL Football through your Amazon Prime Video app.
This is great news for the NFL fan. Many had worried that Amazon would put the Twitch feed behind a paywall like the Prime Video feed. Now we know that you will be able to watch Thursday Night NFL Football around the world (except in China) for free on Twitch.
