This it was announced that Vernon Sanders will be the new co-head of television at Amazon. He will work alongside Albert Cheng overseeing the creative and production units of Amazon Prime television operation.

Sanders was previously the VP of current programming at NBC and executive VP of comedy programming and senior VP of drama for NBC and Universal Television.

“I am tremendously excited to be joining Jennifer Salke, Albert Cheng and the forward-thinking team at Amazon Studios as they build an incredible destination for high-quality, compelling content,” Sanders said. “My time as a producer has reaffirmed my passion for working closely with creators to champion shows which delight and surprise our audiences. I’m grateful to my family at NBCU for their support as I jump into this new challenge.”

Amazon recently announced that they plan to invest more in original content in an effort to find their The Hand Maid’s Tale or House of Cards. Right now, Amazon has several promising shows in development but they have their eyes set on finding their Game of Thrones–type show.

A few of the shows Amazon is working on right now include a show based on Lord of the Rings and a show on Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan character.
