Update #2: Today Sicnalir reached out to Cord Cutters News to say that their listing of a new live TV streaming service called Amazon TV was a mistake. Amazon also reached out to Cord Cutters News to say they have not announced any service called Amazon TV at this time.

A few years ago, we learned that Amazon was looking at launching a live TV streaming service to take on Sling TV and others. According to reports from Bloomberg, in 2017, Amazon was unable to reach deals that would make a live TV service profitable. Unlike Sling TV, which uses DISH’s TV contracts to strike better deals, Amazon like Sony has no relationship it can use to build a profitable live TV streaming service.

Now though new hints are showing up that Amazon may be about to launch a new live TV streaming service thanks to Sinclair. Recently Sinclair updated the list of providers that will offer its new Cubs sports network called Marquee Sports Network. In that list of providers is a service called Amazon TV.

Update: Amazon has told Cord Cutters News that they have not announced any service called Amazon TV at this time. We have reached out to learn more and will post updates as we learn more.

When you enter a zip code and select Amazon TV as your provider Sinclair’s Marquee Sports Network’s website it gives you this message “Unfortunately, Marquee Sports Network is not available on Amazon TV. But you can help! Reach out to them and ask them to carry Marquee Sports Network.” From there, it supplies a link to Amazon.com/TV, but as of right now, that just redirects to buy TV sets or the Amazon Prime Video when you try to follow the link.

Rumors have recently started to pop up again that Amazon was looking at launching a live TV streaming service to compete with YouTube TV, Hulu, Sling TV, and more. Now it seems that Sinclair, one of the companies Amazon would have to work with to make this happen, seems to think this new Amazon TV service is very real. Sinclair believes this to be real enough to ask its viewers to demand Amazon add the new Marquee Sports Network to this unannounced Amazon TV service.

It is possible that Sinclair is trying to get the service added to Amazon Channels as a standalone option. Or maybe they meant the Fire TV. For now, we will have to wait and see what happens, but this once again brings up the possibility that Amazon is working on a new live TV streaming service.

Cord Cutters News is reaching out to Amazon and will post updates as we learn more.
