Amazon Says Voice Dictation Will Be Returning To The Fire TV

This week with the new 5.2.6.6 update several Fire TV models lost the ability to use voice dictation. With voice dictation, you can type just by talking to your Fire TV with Alexa. This issue was first reported by AFTVnews who pointed out that all Fire TV models except for the Fire TV cube lost the ability to use the voice dictation this week.

Now Amazon has confirmed to AFTVnews that voice dictation will be returning to the Fire TV soon. According to Amazon, they did not intend to remove that feature and are looking into restoring the functionality as quickly as possible.

As with all updates, things can go wrong. The 5.2.6.6 update made several changes to the way Alexa works on older Fire TV models. Now it looks like with these changes they accidentally removed voice dictation from them in the process.

No timeline has been announced for when voice dictation will return to the Fire TVs that lost the support. Hopefully, Amazon rolls out an update soon to restore the lost functionality.
