Today it was reported that Amazon is developing a drama series called Conan. The show will be based on the books by Rober E. Howard and the project comes from the Colony co-creator Ryan Condal, Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik, Fargo and The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer Warren Littlefield, Pathfinder Media and Endeavor Content.

Deadline was the first to break the news and according to their report, the show will retell the classic story via a return to the literary origins. For fans of the books this brings hope it will be more truthful to the original material than many of the shows and movies that have come out over the years.

For now, there is no word on when the show will hit Amazon Prim Video. What we do know is Amazon is on the hunt for a big hit show to take on Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and Netflix growing list of hit original shows. Well, Amazon Prime Video has a growing list of original hit shows they have yet to have the huge break out original show. That may change though with the release of their new Tom Clancy Jack Ryan show coming out later this year.
