AMC Is Getting Ready to Launch a Streaming Service (With a Catch)

Love AMC shows such as the “Walking Dead” or “Better Call Saul?” AMC is hoping you will subscribe to its streaming service for the very best of AMC.

According to a Reuters report, AMC has a new streaming service in the works. For somewhere between $4.99 and $6.99 a month (AMC has not finalized the price) you will be able to get ad-free access to AMC shows and online-only originals.

But there will be a catch. You will need to be a cable TV subscriber to get access to the service, so you will first need to pay on average $100 a month for cable TV and then sign up for the AMC service for an extra possibly $6.99 a month.

While AMC has been known for making some of the best TV shows on cable TV the question now is will cable subscribers be willing to hand over even more money for access to what they feel they are already paying for?

Now cord cutters still have access to AMC through services like Sling TV, PlayStation Vue, and DIRECTV NOW.

Many cable networks will be watching AMC’s new streaming service as a way to possibly get even more money from cable subscribers. Only time will tell, but this may lead to a rush of other similar services.
