As Viacom and Discovery rush to roll out a streaming service one major cable network has decided to not join the rush into streaming.

This week AMC Networks’ Chief Financial Officer Sean Sullivan told an industry audience that AMC has no plans to bypass traditional distributors (pay-TV services) with its own direct-to-consumer offerings.

“Am I going to offer an AMC linear viewing experience direct-to-consumer? That’s not something we’re looking to do,” Sullivan said. “What we are trying to do is be responsive. We’re in an ecosystem where a significant portion of our economics comes from our distribution partners, so why not come up with a better consumer-viewing, ad-free option for their passionate viewers, and I think AMC Premier is a perfect vessel to do that.”

There is good news though. AMC is not counting cord cutters out. Sullivan went on to say, “Hopefully we’ll get more distribution coverage across the United States, but in terms of a direct-to-consumer over-the-top offering, that’s not something we’re comfortable with.”

Recently AMC announced a deal to bring their networks to the live TV streaming service fuboTV. So there is still hope for Hulu subscribers who would like AMC to come to their live TV streaming service.

With Disney, Discovery, and Viacom all looking at their own streaming services it will be interesting to see if AMC changes their mind in a year or two from now.
