Today it was reported by a security researcher that AMC had exposed subscriber data including names, emails, and subscription plan details for 1.62 million Shudder and Sundance Now subscribers. Full credit card details did not get leaked but the last four digits of their credit card were leaked for 3,351 subscribers. This all was posted by Bob Diachenko a security researcher who posted on his Security Discovery website.
AMC sent Bob Diachenko the following statement about the security breach:
“We became aware of an issue regarding access to an internal development database, which was primarily used for catalogue data along with certain other non-sensitive subscriber information, and we immediately took action to close off this access. We are taking steps to make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
Please be careful if you use Shudder or Sundance Now. Your full credit card number may not have been leaked but scammers now know you use Shudder and Sundance now making you a bigger targeting. Be careful of any emails sent to you claiming to be from these services asking you to update payment information etc.
