Apple TV+ has been on a roll of releasing must-see shows lately. This summer, the streaming service will premiere returning seasons of big hits like its award-winning Ted Lasso, The Morning Show with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and The Shrink Next Door starring Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. Now, Apple TV+ has finally announced a release date for Foundation, its latest series based on the science fiction book series by Isaac Asimov. The first three episodes are set to hit the streaming service at the end of the summer on September 24, 2021, with new episodes weekly.
Apple TV+ also dropped a new teaser trailer more than one year after the first taste.
When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon (Jared Harris) predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons — a long line of emperor clones—fear their grasp on the galaxy may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their legacy forever.
Meanwhile, other summer arrivals to look forward to include The Mosquito Coast with Justin Theroux, Cecily Strong and Keegan-Michael Key’s musical comedy Schmigadoon!, Physical with Rose Byrne, Lisey’s Story with Julianne Moore and Clive Owen, Foundation, and Mr. Corman starring Joseph Gordon-Leavitt.
