Apple TV+ has announced that the Mariah Carey Magical Christmas Special will hit the streaming service on December 4 along with a full companion soundtrack available on Apple Music. Carey will be joined by a star-studded guest list on the special, including Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Snoop Dogg, Jermaine Dupri, Misty Copeland and Mykal-Michelle Harris, plus extra special cameos by Carey’s twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
Along with Mariah Carey, the special is being produced by Ian Stewart, Raj Kapoor and Ashley Edens with the Done + Dusted production company which has produced other notable specials like The Disney Family Singalong, and John Legend’s A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy.
Faced with a holiday cheer crisis, the North Pole knows there’s only one person who can save the day: Santa’s great friend, Mariah Carey. Combining musical performances, dynamic dancing and groundbreaking animation, the undisputed Queen of Christmas jumps into action to create a holiday spectacular to make the whole world merry.
Mariah Carey’s hit All I Want for Christmas is You was originally released as the lead single of her album on October 29, 1994. Since then, it’s gone on to become a modern-day staple in the canon of Christmas carols and holds the title of best selling Christmas single by a female artist, and one of the best selling singles of all time. The song has broken records and went on to top the Billboard charts in 2019 after a new music video was released for the 25th anniversary.
