Apple TV+ is making all of our Christmas wishes come true with a Mariah Carey holiday special set to release on the streaming platform. The musical special will no doubt feature songs from her iconic “All I Want for Christmas is You” album which turned 25last year.
Along with Mariah Carey, the special is being produced by Ian Stewart, Raj Kapoor and Ashley Edens with the Done + Dusted production company which has produced other notable specials like The Disney Family Singalong, and John Legend’s A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy.
Described with words like “innovative,” the special “will combine music, dancing and animation driven by a universally heartwarming story that brings the world together,” Deadline reports.
Mariah Carey’s hit All I Want for Christmas is You was originally released as the lead single her album on October 29, 1994. Since then, it’s gone on to become a modern-day staple in the canon of Christmas carols and holds the title of best selling Christmas single by a female artist, and one of the best selling singles of all time. The song has broken records and went on to top the Billboard charts in 2019 after a new music video was released for the 25th anniversary.
There’s no set date yet for when the special will premiere on Apple TV+, but it will most likely be sometime after October.
