AT&T recently launched a new live TV streaming service called AT&T TV. In short, AT&T TV is DIRECTV streaming online. The pricing is the same and both have many of the same fees.

AT&T also decided to rebrand DIRECTV NOW to AT&T TV NOW. Both services use the same app called AT&T TV. Now here comes the major problem confusing anyone trying to understand AT&T TV vs AT&T TV NOW: AT&T has recently started to promote DIRECTV NOW’s rebrand as being changed to AT&T TV not AT&T TV NOW.

In large app store banners and even in the description, AT&T proudly boasts about how DIRECTV NOW is now AT&T TV. The problem is that is not the case. DIRECTV NOW is now AT&T TV NOW. AT&T TV is a brand-new service with different pricing, terms, and conditions than the new AT&T TV NOW.

Here are some screenshots in which AT&T clearly says DIRECTV NOW is AT&T TV.

Update: AT&T reached out to Cord Cutters News to let us know they are updating the app description to help remove the confusion over AT&T TV and AT&T TV NOW.

To make matters even worse, most tech support for AT&T TV NOW is labeled AT&T TV on AT&T’s website. When you try to contact AT&T TV NOW you need to use the contact information for AT&T TV. This has resulted in many of our readers confused about how they contact with AT&T TV NOW to ask a question.

AT&T’s website does not help. AT&T TV NOW is only found if you click on streaming. For a while after the name change, clicking on DIRECTV NOW in some menus on AT&T’s website brought you to AT&T TV not AT&T TV NOW.

Even just this week when AT&T announced a deal with STARZ they didn’t list AT&T TV NOW but listed AT&T TV. When asked about this AT&T said AT&T TV NOW was lumped together with AT&T TV.

You can clearly see why many are becoming confused. AT&T, at times, does not seem to know the difference between AT&T TV NOW and AT&T TV. Hopefully, as AT&T TV rolls out to new markets AT&T will clear up the confusion over the two streaming services.
