AT&T Watch TV Will Reportedly Shut Down as AT&T Focuses on HBO MAX

Cord Cutters News has learned that AT&T will reportedly close its AT&T Watch TV service soon. Last week, AT&T announced that they would no longer be including the $15 a month TV service with their AT&T Unlimited Wireless plans starting today. According to our sources, this is the first step in shutting down the $15 a month Philo-like service.

Cord Cutters News first reported on the possible demise of AT&T Watch TV in July. Now our sources say over the next few months AT&T will fully close AT&T Watch TV. No exact date was confirmed, but we have learned it will happen soon.

AT&T Watch TV launched in summer 2018. The service was a cheap TV package costing $15 a month or free with select AT&T Unlimited Wireless plans. At the time, AT&T said additional features would be added like a Roku Channel. Sadly, that never happened.

Recently AT&T has been extremely quiet about AT&T Watch TV, and now we have learned that was because AT&T plans to focus on HBO MAX and AT&T TV. Instead of offering AT&T Watch TV, AT&T will now offer free HBO MAX to select Unlimited Wireless customers.

At this time, we have not confirmed if AT&T will move AT&T Watch TV customers over to AT&T TV NOW or HBO MAX. What we can confirm is the days of AT&T Watch TV are limited. It is possible that AT&T will just stop accepting new signups and let current customers keep the service until their contracts end. For now, we will have to wait and see what AT&T does with AT&T Watch TV and how it handles its switch over to focusing on HBO MAX.
