Over the weekend, C Spire launched one of the first 5G home internet networks in the United States. With this new 5G service they are offering 120 Mbps wireless home internet with no data caps for just $50 a month. The best part is there are no contracts and no early termination fees.

Although only available in a few markets, C Spire says they will continue to roll the service out to new markets.

Here is how C Spire describes the service.

How does 5G fixed wireless internet work?

C Spire runs fiber up to the edge of your neighborhood or business district. We then use 5G tech to connect a series of base stations that in turn provide you with high speed internet through the air.

What does C Spire install?

C Spire installs a dinner plate–sized antenna alongside your roof. This device is smaller and nicer looking than a typical satellite dish for TV service. We connect this antenna device into your home or business network using an Ethernet cable through a small power adapter.

Is this just another cellular or satellite internet product?

No. Our service runs on amazing 5G fixed wireless technology that is capable of blazing fast speeds without the arbitrary data caps usually associated with LTE or satellite services.

Even if you don’t live in a C Spire market, this should give you an idea of what 5G should look like as Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T launch 5G networks for home internet later this year. One of the big differences is that other companies do not plan to put a dish on your home but use a small modem inside your home to pick up the signal.
