In 2019, we saw many streaming services focus on original content. Original shows and movies have been a way for streaming services to set themselves apart from the competition and give subscribers a reason to stick around for exclusive content that they can’t watch elsewhere.
When it comes to originals, Netflix is leading the pack. The company has invested millions in developing original content, creating some of the most streamed shows of the year and winning awards for their original films.
These are the most popular Netflix original shows in each state around the country.
HighSpeedInternet used Google Rank to track the popularity of shows by state. They found that The Umbrella Academy was the most popular show among viewers and was watched by 45 million households within its first four weeks on the platform. The final season of Orange is the New Black came in second, with 11 states making this their most watched show. Black Mirror and The Haunting of Hill House took the third and fourth spots.
