‘Cobra Kai’ Is Netflix’s Top Show for Q3

Netflix has released its Q3 earnings report, and along with it some data on the streaming services top-performing content. It’s always an anticipated time since Netflix only releases what it wants to concerning viewership. Despite falling short of its quarterly subscriber goals, Netlfix had some well-performing titles these past four months.

Somewhat surprisingly, the streamer’s top viewed show was none other than Cobra Kai, the Karate Kid spin-off Netlifx picked up from YouTube. Season one garnered the attention of 50 million households during its first 4 weeks. Netflix’s most popular original premiere was Ratched, the psychological thriller starring Sarah Paulson as Nurse Ratched plotting in a mental hospital. The series pulled in 48 million views in the 28 days after the series premiered, making it the biggest original season one not only of the quarter but all of 2020.

In movies, Enola Holmes has risen to the top with 76 million views in the first four weeks. The Sherlock Holmes inspired spin-off starring Millie Bobby Brown was released on Sept. 23 and has steadily proven to be one of Netflix’s big hits for the quarter. The top-performing movies over the entire quarter are The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron and Jamie Foxx’s action superpower film Project Power coming reporting an overall 78 million and 76 million views respectively.

In the documentary space, 52 million Netflix subscribers tuned in to American Murder: The Family Next Door, and The Social Dilemma reached 38 million views.

Netflix’s Q3 results show that streamer added 2.2 million subscribers for the quarter and reaching 195.15 million global subscribers in total for the quarter ending September 30
