Comcast is Adding a New Fee to Your Bill

Mid age woman sitting at tableAre you ready for a new fee to pop up on your bill? Well Comcast once again has invented a new fee to add to your bill. The fee is a $2 a month “Voice Technology Fee.”

“As we continue to make improvements to our products and services, and as programmers charge more to carry their networks, our cost of doing business increases,” a since-scrubbed notice on the Comcast website stated. “As a result, prices for certain services and fees will be going up, and a new Voice Technology Fee of $2 will apply to XFINITY Voice customer accounts.”

Comcast has recently been working hard to push bundled services with the promise of a less expensive rate if you sign up for more than one service; however, they won’t give you more for less. So keep in mind the hidden fees, price hikes after the short-term promotional rate ends, and taxes.

If you really want a voice service we recommend checking out Ooma or other similar services. No longer will you have to worry about what fee will be hidden on your bill. You also don’t need to worry about when your price will jump.

“Voice Technology Fee??” Give me a break! What kind of BS is that? This is one of the reasons that I was so glad to say good riddance to my cable TV. This is kind of like when I used to have to pay Time Warner for a DVR and then they charged a “DVR service fee” on top of that.

I have been using the Ooma option for the last couple years without any issue.

I concur, been using Vonage for our business since 2005 w/o any issues. As a matter of fact we moved our office twice, unplug adapter, plugin at new location, phone is done, number is the same. More features than I can get from our cable system is a bonus too.

As an example, four years ago, I cut cable TV and kept just Comcast internet for $24/month at 24Gbps. Earlier this year they had raised my rate to $76/month, with increases every 6 months or so. So, I threatened earlier this year to cancel, got my rate cut to $29/month but they DID NOT MENTION they were reducing the speed to 12Gbps and as of this week I am only getting an upload speed of one HALF a Gbps. Comcast sucks – ask your Federal legislator to implement Federal regulations over cable firms – they are not regulated so can do these types of things.
