Exclusive: In August, Cord Cutters News broke the news that Comcast would be removing Starz from some high-end packages and moving TCM to the Sports Extra Add-on. Comcast followed through by removing TCM from their core packages and making STARZ a $12 add-on.

Now Cord Cutters News has learned that Comcast will be dropping STARZ when their contract with STARZ ends on December 31, 2019. Comcast plans to continue to sell STARZ as a $12 add-on until then.

According to our sources, the decision to drop STARZ has been made and talks are over. Comcast has already replaced STARZ with a combination of Epix, Hitz and Streampix in their premium packages.

Comcast recently pointed to STARZ’s new streaming service sold through Amazon Channels and other services as a reason they dropped the service from its premium packages. Now it seems that talks have broken down over this issue and likely others including the price of STARZ.

Comcast has not publicly announced the change, but our source warns customers to keep a close eye on the final page of their bills for upcoming channel changes. Often customers fail to read the final pages meaning they miss important changes to their Comcast Xfinity TV line up.
