Today Comcast reached out to Xfinity TV subscribers to let them know that Starz is being removed from all Comcast TV packages on February 11th, 2020. Now if you want Starz you will need to pay for it separately. The good news is you don’t need to pay for it through Comcast but can subscribe to Starz through services like Amazon Channels.

Here is how Comcast describes the change:

Due to a new programming agreement, Starz will only be available a la carte after February 11, 2020. It will be removed from all existing customer packages as of February 11. Late last year, the premium network EPIX was added to these packages, which includes EPIX, EPIX 2, EPIX Hits, EPIX Drive-in and EPIX On Demand, which has comparable content.

Starz will remain available to purchase a la carte for an additional monthly fee and includes the following programming: Starz, StarzEncore, StarzEncore Westerns, StarzEncore Black and StarzEncore Action, Starz On Demand and StarzEncore on Demand.

Note: Starz Edge, Starz in Black, Starz Comedy, Starz Cinema and Starz Kids & Family channels are no longer offered; however, all Starz On Demand content remains available for these channels.

Are you dropping Starz?
While we are removing Starz from existing customer packages, it is available a la carte. In December, we reduced the number of Starz channels we carry while continuing to offer the main Starz channel a la carte and all Starz On Demand content. Four EPIX channels and EPIX on Demand was added to these packages in December to replace Starz. Why are you doing this?
Every month, Comcast pays programmers like networks, local TV station owners and others for the ability to bring their programming to you. We regularly review our programming and sometimes make changes to ensure we’re offering a wide variety of programming at the best value. We look at a variety of factors, including customer viewership and programming costs, when making these decisions. Per a new programming agreement with Starz, we are removing the channel from the packages and it will now only be available by a la carte subscription. What will happen to my scheduled DVR recordings?
If you do not add Starz a la carte by February 11, any scheduled recordings for those channels will not record; however, you can still watch anything you previously recorded on those channels. If you choose to re-subscribe to Starz, you should be able to catch up on any missed recordings through Starz or StarzEncore On Demand.
