tv on a tv standLast week Comcast made their Flex streaming player free for Comcast Internet Customers (reduced from $5 a month). Many have said this should be the Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV killer because Comcast is offering it for free. Yet if you are a cord cutter you probably want to just skip the Comcast Flex streaming player.

The Comcast Flex streaming player is not a bad streaming player and includes many of the more popular streaming services. But cord cutters will find many popular streaming services are not included and, more importantly, won’t find any live TV services other than Comcast’s own streaming service.

So, if you want to be a cord cutter who has options to use PlayStation Vue, YouTube TV, and AT&T TV NOW you will sadly find yourself out of options for US channels. Comcast does offer some international streaming packages like Sling TV’s international TV packages, but you won’t find Sling TV’s Orange and Blue packages.

Most cord cutters will find Comcast’s Flex streaming player lacking compared to Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV. Yet fears about the Flex streaming player from Comcast did scare some investors pushing Roku’s stock price.

Roku is the clear leader in the United States when it comes to the most popular streaming player. Now Roku is facing growing competition from Amazon and the likes of Comcast. For now, Roku’s main threat seems to be Amazon not Comcast.
