Yesterday, Consumer Reports announced their best indoor antennas of 2018. Consumer Reports tested 10 indoor antennas and from these tests they announced the top three best indoor antennas.
Here are the top three indoor antennas of 2018:
How they tested the antennas:
Each model was tested in every home, on clear days, in two spots: on or facing a window and inside a room near the TV. Signal strength generally is stronger near a window, and that’s the result they used when calculating their rankings. Consumer Reports also tested performance when the antenna was placed near the TV because people don’t always have an easily accessible window.
Consumer Reports also brought up an interesting point in their testing about locations:
Regardless of which antenna was being used, one of their test locations was able to pull in only one station and another only three; others received 20 or more. But that understates the amount of content an antenna can give you.
This should serve as a reminder that antenna placement is important. Make sure to experiment to find the best location for the antenna in your house or you may be missing out on locals no matter what antenna you have.
