Cord Cutters are 49% More Likely to be Early Adopters of Technology

Using an over-the-top device like Roku or Amazon Fire TV Stick isn’t rocket science, but might mean you are always ready to jump on the cutting edge of technology. New data from Analytics IQ shows that cord cutters are 49% more likely to be the early adopters of new technology, meaning they’re some of the first ones to get on board with the latest in tech before everyone else.

That’s why it doesn’t come as much surprise that cord cutters are 38% more likely to enjoy Sci-fi shows, and even 107% more dedicated to video games. This demographic really does prioritize technology.

Cord cutters are also ready to try modern-day conveniences like online shopping and delivery to make their lives easier. People who prefer alternatives to cable are 52% more likely to be a member of a subscription box service, 56% more likely to use grocery pickup services,

Cord cutters are also more likely to be up for other kinds of online content. For example, this group is 110% more likely to be Twitch viewers than those who have cable TV.

And obviously, there is a certain age range that is more prone to opt for OTT viewing compared to traditional pay-TV. The average cord cutter is 31 years old and probably doesn’t have a lot of free time during the day. That’s why this demographic is 41.7% more likely to watch TV from 4pm to 7pm. This demographic is more likely to have young children (133%), be students (134%), and even be more likely to be moving in the next 3-6 months, which is why it makes sense to have an OTT option you can take with you when you relocate as opposed to setting up and canceling cable TV subscriptions.
