Watching TV, Watching, Living Room, Domestic Life, SmilingIn a press release this week, Strictly Streaming Entertainment Inc announced the launch of Strictly Streaming. There are other similar services like NewsON and even dedicated news apps for many stations. The good news is now with Strickly Streaming we have one more option to stream local news.

Strictly Streaming is a streaming service that brings local broadcast content to a wider audience. Currently, the service is only available in select markets. Those in the select markets will be connected to their local television broadcaster. The goal of the company is to connect with what they call the “elusive viewer,” those who may be getting all of their content through streaming services, but who aren’t currently getting local content.

“This will be the first real opportunity for local television to recreate and rediscover a sense of community among local audiences by meeting and engaging viewers where they are today” said David Copenhaver, president of Strictly Streaming.

For broadcasters, Strictly Streaming is an opportunity to connect with an audience that they may not be able to reach with traditional broadcasts. The streaming service will also be an additional revenue stream for local stations, offering product placement, locals ads, banners, and e-commerce opportunities through the website and app.

Strictly Streaming won’t be a competitor for major streaming services, but instead will be focused on bringing local content to a target audience. Content can be streamed through the website, smart TVs, phones, and tablets.
