Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV serviceI want to take a moment and give all the Cord Cutters News readers an update on the site and our future plans to help you get the most from your cord cutting experience.

So far in 2017 Cord Cutters News (CCN) has seen crazy growth. July 2017 was the busiest month we have ever had: most page views, visitors, and comments in a single month. (The biggest surprise is that happened during the typically slow month of July.)

How fast are we growing? We saw a 15% jump in traffic in July 2017 over June 2015. (June 2017 was our best month ever before July blew it away.) Compared to July 2016 we saw a 76% jump in traffic over the same time a year ago.

Even our social media is exploding with more than 1,000 new followers every week to our Facebook Page, Facebook Group, YouTube, and Twitter account. Some weeks we saw 2,000 or more new followers. We now have almost 90,000 followers on all of our social media platforms! We are so close to the goal of 100,000 we set at the start of 2017. (Why not invite a few of your friends to follow us? We only need 10,000 more!) My goal is to top 100,000 social media followers by the end of the third quarter 2017.

To respond to this growth, we are making a few improvements. As always we want to give you the best cord cutting coverage possible—from how-to guides and reviews to the latest cord cutting news.

But, first, let me take a moment to say thank you to everyone who reads CCN. I launched this site several years ago with no following. Two years ago I quit my job to run the site full time. This has been one of my most rewarding jobs, and it is thanks to you, the readers.

Every time I hear a thank you or a story about how we helped someone save money, it makes my day. So thank you for your support, and I promise I will do my best to give you the best cord cutting site I can possibly offer.

So here is what we are doing to make Cord Cutters News even better!

Better Hosting

We have made some improvements to our hosting with a faster server to help improve the performance. The new hosting will bring better performance and better security to the site.

New Writers

In July we brought in a new guest writer, Jess Barnes. She is a gifted writer who is herself a cord cutter long before she started guest posting for Cord Cutters News.

New YouTube Series

We have recently started a weekly series of videos called Cord Cutting 101 on YouTube. For anyone who would rather hear and watch than read about cord cutting this new Cord Cutting 101 video series is for you.

Weekly Live Q&A

The weekly live Q&As have started to grow a lot. To help with the growth we are going to do two things. First, we are taking applications for mods to help keep the spam out on YouTube. If you want to be a mod, please send us an email using the Contact Us tab.

Second, we are also going to start taking questions before the Q&A. So if you cannot be there, look for a weekly post to submit your questions that will be posted late on Tuesdays from now on.

Final Notes

These changes are not everything we are working on but rather just some of the plans we have that I am willing to make public at this time. We have many plans in the works to make CCN the best cord cutting site out there.

Now these changes do represent a major financial investment into CCN. New servers, paying new writers, and travel to conventions and more to meet with the companies behind cord cutting cost money. So if you visit the site, please consider white listing us if you use an ad blocker.

Also consider donating $1 a month through our Patreon to help keep the site going strong. That amount may not seem like a lot, but it really adds up.

Once again thank you for your support of CCN. Never could I have dreamed that this site would become so big.

Please follow us on Facebook and Twitter for more news, tips, and reviews.
