Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV service

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV serviceAs has recently become a tradition at Cord Cutters News (CCN) I want to take a moment and give a monthly update on the site.

We have continued to grow to unbelievable levels with millions of readers so far this year. So I want to update you on how everything is going. Without you none of this means anything.

Growth

Recently we have seen growth across the board compared to a year ago. Even our social media is exploding with more than 1,000 new followers every week to our Facebook Page, Facebook Group, YouTube, and Twitter accounts. Some weeks we saw 2,000 or more new followers.

We now have over 100,000 followers on all of our social media platforms! In January I set a goal of 100,000 social media followers by years’ end thinking that was such an out there number that would never happen; however, we hit that number already with several months to spare!

To respond to this growth we are growing CCN quickly to keep up with the demand.

First, a Thank You

I launched this site several years ago with no following. A little over two years ago I quit my job to run the site full time. This has been one of my most rewarding jobs, and it is thanks to you, the readers.

Every time I hear a thank you or a story about how we helped someone save money, it makes my day. So thank you for your support, and I promise I will do my best to give you the best cord cutting site I can possibly offer.

The following is what I have been doing to make Cord Cutters News even better!

YouTube

I have been investing more time into YouTube and plan to continue to grow our YouTube Channel. My goal is to offer more breaking news and reviews on YouTube to make it your go-to place for cord cutting related videos.

To help improve our YouTube channel, we are in the middle of a major upgrade.

What’s new?

A New Camera

The current camera is a few years old and was recently damaged at a conference. Autofocus has been slow and there is a dead pixel after it was damaged.

New Video Editing Software

The current video editing software is a few years old, and no matter what I do seems to create sound issues when I use it. I am currently shopping around for a new video editing software that will let me create a more professional look.

Better Lighting

While I love the new office we moved into last year the lighting is not as nice as our old office. I am going to invest in better lighting to help improve the quality of the videos.

When will this happen?

Everything should be done by the end of October with better lighting being the first thing fixed. Hopefully starting in November 2017 you will see a noticeable improvement in image quality.

Website Improvements

CCN recently rolled out a few major improvements to the site. First, our hosting was upgraded and we have seen a noticeable improvement in load time.

Notifications

The second major improvement is notifications. For some time users have asked if CCN could offer notifications for new posts through Chrome and other browsers. Now you can sign up to be notified when we post a new article.

In just a few weeks, with no announcement of the service, over 12,000 people have signed up for notifications! If you want to be notified when new posts go live, click on the red bell at the bottom right of any page on our site to sign up. (You can also unsubscribe there at any time.)

Final Notes

These changes are not everything I am working on, but rather just some of the plans I have that I am willing to make public at this time. I have many plans in the works to make CCN the best cord cutting site.

If you would like to help CCN, consider visiting the site without using ad blockers, or consider donating $1 a month through our Patreon to help keep the site going strong. That amount may not seem like a lot, but it really adds up.

Once again, thank you for your support of CCN. Never could I have dreamed that this site would become so big.
