All you need is an HDMI port on your TV to use these streaming players. They will automatically detect if your TV is 4K or not and stream in the format that works for your TV.
Don’t have an HD TV? You may want to look at a Roku Express+ that is sold at Walmart and will give you the old red, white, and yellow cables for older TVs.
Why You Should Buy a 4K Streaming Player Even If You Don’t Have a 4K TV
Even if you have an HD TV, I suggest buying a 4K streaming player. For an extra $10 you can get a Roku Stick+ or a Fire TV Stick 4K. These 4K streaming players are far more powerful than the HD streaming sticks.
Also, if you buy a 4K streaming player, you are set if you ever upgrade your TV to 4K. You may pay $10 more now, but you won’t need to buy a 4K streaming device in the future.
