Today, DAZN announced that the global sports streaming service will be expanding to 200 countries, a big leap from the 9 countries where the service is currently offered.
DAZN will begin the expansion with an English language service, focused on boxing. The first global event on DAZN will be May 2nd, when boxing’s biggest star, Canelo Alvarez, returns to the ring. An announcement on Alvarez’s opponent is expected soon.
“Boxing is a sport with truly global appeal and a perfect first offering for our global service,” DAZN EVP Joseph Markowski told DAZN News. “We have been amazed by the level of international interest to date and look forward to introducing DAZN to more than 200 new markets this year.”
Currently, DAZN is available in Austria, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. The DAZN app will be available globally on most smartphones, tablets, laptops, web browsers, and streaming devices.
More information about the global availability of DAZN will be released in the coming weeks. For users outside of DAZN’s existing markets who are interested in early access to the service via the DAZN beta community, registration is open at DAZN.com, and official invites will be sent out later this month.
