Today AT&T held their 4th quarter 2017 earnings call and it was packed full of DIRECTV NOW news. One of the main keys is we got an updated timeframe from AT&T about the updated app and DVR launch.
According to AT&T their new DIRECTV NOW app with DVR is delayed until spring of 2018. Yet there is good news as AT&T announced today that they will be adding a third consecutive stream to DIRECTV NOW this spring when the new app and DVR launches. This means subscribers to DIRECTV NOW will be able to watch on 3 different devices at once. (Currently, DIRECTV NOW is limited to two simultaneous streams per account.)
AT&T also added that there will be other user enhancements but did not lay them out in the call.
Previously AT&T had announced a list of new features including:
- A DVR in the cloud to record your shows
- Download-and-Go
- 4K and HD quality video
- Capacity to offer more than 35,000 titles on demand
- Individual profiles
- More concurrent streams
No date has been set for when these new features will roll out but it will be sometime after March 20th 2018. Yet the good news is AT&T has been rolling out beta invites to current DIRECTV NOW subscribers almost daily recently. So if you do not have an invite now keep checking your email.
