This week DIRECTV NOW quietly added more FOX and NBC affiliates. This continues DIRECTV NOW’s race to catch up with Hulu how now has over 400 live locals. Right now PlayStation Vue and DIRECTV NOW are fighting for second place in the race for live locals.
The first major addition was the NBC affiliate KPRC in Houston, Texas. This gives Houston TX subscribers access to all 4 major locals and my20, Univision, and Telemundo.
DIRECTV NOW also added Fox KDSM in Des Moines, IA. This means DIRECTV NOW subscribers in Des Moines, IA are only waiting for NBC before they will have all 4 major locals.
According to our readers, the locals are not showing up in the beta app. Typically they will be added anytime from an hour to a few days after DIRECTV NOW adds them to the standard app.
DIRECTV NOW has made it clear that adding new locals are a priority for the service. Yet AT&T has not announced what new locals will be added next.
