DIRECTV NOW Adds New Features to Their Beta App

Yesterday AT&T started to contact beta testers about a new update to the DIRECTV NOW beta. With this update, beta testers will be able to set up recordings for entire series not just single episodes.

Here is part of the email that went out to subscribers:

“We have great news! With the new build version for iOS and tvOS you can now record all your favorite fall series with one simple click! We know this is a feature you’ve been waiting to test for some time, so have at it – record away!”

This was one of the last missing features in the DIRECTV NOW beta test for the new app and DVR feature. In the past, you had to set up individual recordings for each episode.

Currently, you only get an option to record the series. There are no options to record only new episodes or to add extra time to a recording. Because DIRECTV NOW is limiting subscribers to 100 DVR hours, hopefully, they add the ability to limit recordings to only new episodes to help avoid filling up your DVR with reruns.

DIRECTV NOW had announced that the DVR would launch in the fall of 2017, but it is increasingly looking like an early 2018 launch is more likely.
