One of the new features that has received little notice is the ability to control the streaming quality and the amount of data used on mobile devices.

A primary complaint about DIRECTV NOW was how it was always stuck on the highest possible quality setting, which can cause buffering on slower connections and use a huge amount of data.

If you go into the settings and select preferences on the new DIRECTV NOW app, you will now find an option to set the quality of stream with three options: Good, Better, or Best. Changing this setting allows DIRECTV NOW to work on slower internet speeds and use less data.

This is likely just the tip of the iceberg of new features likely to come. Many companies like DIRECTV NOW have a history of slipping in additional features they don’t list in the update description.
