Well, it looks like DIRECTV NOW has without warning dropped support for the 1st gen Fire Stick. No explanation has been given but after an update, today 1st gen Fire Stick owners found a message from DIRECTV NOW telling them they need to download the new DIRECTV NOW app.

At first many had hoped this meant the new DIRECTV NOW app with DVR was rolling out. Sadly DIRECTV NOW’s Twitter account says they have ended support for the 1st gen Fire Stick.

Hopefully, this is temporary and the new DIRECTV NOW app will support the 1st gen Fire TV Stick once again. We are reaching out to AT&T for comment and will update this story as we learn more.
